HOW IT IS MADE?
Warm Designs
Woocoon is newly established clothing brand founded by Latvian designer Baiba Redere. Graduate in arts of fashion and textile with master's degree in painting. Synthesis of various interesting experiences enables her to develop unique sound for the new clothing brand.
All Woocoon products consist only from natural raw materials - of wool and silks that also formed the name for the brand.
Wool -wool Cocoon - silk cocoon.
Woocoon is sustainable, environmentally and eco-friendly fashion design with high level of artistic quality. Each garment is unique and hand made.
Woocoon designs are created using nuno felting technique and its handwriting is close to those of northern temperament having maximum respect for the natural beauty, organic shapes and colors.
Silk fabrics are dyed with plants (with the exception of industrial black) thus reaching ascetic and natural colour gamut.
In turn felting technique, where silks and wool are connected using pure water, natural SOAP and human hands energy and it all together creates unique gown texture that becomes a real asset to brand.
Majority of Woocoon gowns can be worn from both sides. Clothing is gentle, light, warm and ecological. Silk dresses are airy and sensual.
Why Woocoon?
Unrepeatable and unique design products what are made from natural materials.
Our clothing wearers are courageous women who are looking for new and unusual to highlight their femininity, individuality and natural beauty.
Woocoon collections are beyond time and seasonality. They are sensual and imaginative stories about how material touches people and the inspiration of nature. They are the fruit of creativity and virtuosity, stemming from the simple joy of self-expression and natural beauty, complemented by a love of texture.
They are created for a woman, who loves to express herself in a fine and mysterious way and whose clothes are the backdrop for her radiant personality, not its mask. They are designed for a woman, who is self-sufficient and artistic, and who loves to breathe deeply and rest within herself.
Ecoprint
Beside Woocoon, as a part of it — summer of 2020, I experimented a lot and went deeper into eco-printing cotton and linen fabrics. These materials tend to dye harder (before I had tried on silk)
Eco prints are a wonderful way to eco-dye fabrics and make worn clothes new. Here art meets love of nature, beauty of imperfection and natural colors.
Here are clothing collections where I collaborate with fashion designer Kristine Veinberg / Sunny Moon. The dresses, the summer coats and the unisex shirts are made of Linen fabric with my eco prints.
What is Eco Printing? Both- art and science It involves extracting the beauty of plants and imprinting them onto wearable fabrics.
In short; Eco Printing creates (more or less perfect) prints of leaves, using the natural pigments, tannins and acids present in leaves, by combining them with mordants, moisture and heat on fabric. The long version includes trained knowledge of plants, mordants, fabrics and a good bit of science.
